Vanuatu PM signs Air Services Agreement with United Arab Emirates

Vanuatu Prime Minister Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas has signed an Air Services Agreement (ASA) with Mohammed Al Suwaidi, Secretary General of General Aviation Authority of United Arab Emirates.

The ASA is an important governance agreement that provide rules and guidance on air services between two countries on a commercial basis.

The ASA has its origin from what is known as the Chicago Convention, a Convention on International Civil Aviation, which emerged in 1944 during the closing stages of World War II.

The Chicago Convention established the rules under which international aviation operates.

It also established the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations organisation responsible for fostering the planning and development of international air transport.
