“This is the first ever high level agriculture training on growing vegetables that I attended,” said Farry Pantuntun of Torba Province.

“I have learned a lot of farming techniques and new technology like the setting up of greenhouse, setting up of irrigation system and different methods of improving soil like mulching and applying of organic fertilizer.

“As a young farmer, I am very keen to return and share my experience with other young farmers on Mota Island.

“The young people need to know about this new farming technology as well.

“I will ensure that the knowledge gained during the training will be passed on to the farmers of Mota Island so that vegetable cultivation will be seen as an important farming activity, at the same time ensuring healthy diets and food security,” farmer Pantuntun concluded.
