Pacific Catering wins Tender to provide meals to athletes

Van2017 has signed an agreement with Pacific Catering to supply the athletes coming to the 2017 Pacific Mini Games with over 50,000 meals.

After an extensive tendering process, and following almost 6 weeks of negotiations, the contract was signed on July 04.

“We are delighted to have Pacific Catering on board to provide the meals to the Teams.  Food is one of the most important things we need to ensure is done correctly, and we have a great deal of faith in Pacific Catering, and in their ability to do this large job for us.  We have negotiated a service that will be equal to any 4 star hotels, and will meet the dietary needs of the athletes during the Games” said Clint Flood CEO for Van2017.

For the Caterer, it was a privilege: “We are thankful for this opportunity. It is both an honor and a huge challenge to be awarded this contract, but we are confident in our ability to plan and deliver it”.  Survivor Vanuatu was one of our first big challenges as a caterer, and that event gave us the confidence we could take this project on” said Greg Pechan, CEO of Pacific Catering.

The Athletes catering will be hosted at the Vanuatu National Convention Centre which will also be the Athletes Entertainment Centre during the period of the Games.

Van2017 will take over the site on November 18 in order that the caterer and other users for the Games may setup and prepare for the teams who will be served their first meals on November 29.

CEO Van2017 also pointed out that additional tenders, also exceeding 50,000 meals, have been let for other workforce catering needs of the Games.

“It’s a huge job to ensure that we are ready to feed the workforce and athletes.  We are thrilled that with just over 150 days to go we have put another important piece of the big puzzle in place in order to stage the best Games possible” said Mr Flood, CEO of Van2017.
