Beach Soccer hits Volcano Island of Tanna

Tafea Football Association (TFA) introduced for the first time Volcano Beach Soccer Competition below one of the World famous volcano, Yasur Volcano on the island of Tanna.

TFA treasurer, Andrew Markia said the competition was the first of its kind on the island of Tanna.

“Last year during the Vanuatu Football congress, Tafea Football Association has reported in its development plan for 2015 that they will start to introduce Beach Soccer and I must say that last Saturday’s tournament was an eye opener for many.” said Andrew Markia, TFA Treasurer.

“We have four teams took part in the competition with an Oldies team made up of all Tafea former players.”

“Because of the success of the tournament, plans are already underway to organize another Beach Soccer Tournament next year and we are sure that more teams will participate.” he said.

“We will ask Vanuatu Football Federation to help set up a Beach Soccer program and plan for 2016.”

“Yasur Volcano is a Vanuatu National Monument and the World knows about it, therefore TFA will work close with our tourist business on the island of Tanna to find ways to promote Beach Soccer as a activity to help promote Tanna not as the island of fire but island of Beach Soccer.”
