The two-year plan establishes three high level objectives, relating to infrastructure, social services and ni-Vanuatu livelihoods. It specifies how these objectives will be achieved, through a program of projects managed by Government ministries and delivered in collaboration with partners.

The Government has also approved and implemented the administrative arrangements necessary to support the program.

A Recovery Program Committee will be responsible for assessing project submissions and taking decisions on which projects to be undertaken and ensuring their delivery.

In his opening address Prime Minister Sato Kilman acknowledged the continuing support of the development partners and their unwavering commitment to Vanuatu’s development aspirations. In particular their eagerness to help the Government in its recovery efforts following the onslaught of Tropical Cyclone Pam, which swept through Vanuatu in March this year.

He thanked the development partners for their assistance during the Government’s relief and humanitarian phase following the cyclone that ended on July 31, 2015, during which much was achieved and the assistance of the development partners contributed greatly to the results achieved.
