Martin Tete is new chairman of Vanuatu Electoral Commission

The chairman of the Electoral Commission, Mr Killion Taleo has been replaced by Mr Martin Tete.

The change was made after a new Electoral Commission was appointed last month.

Mr Tete brings with him a wealth of experience in election matters after having served for many years as Principal Electoral Officer, then as the adviser to the Electoral Commission before joining the Electoral Commission as a member.

His appointments was made by the President of the Republic, Baldwin Lonsdale, acting in accordance with the advice of the Judicial Service Commission.

The three-member Commission, also included the Secretary General of the Vanuatu Christian Council, Pastor Shem Temar and Ms Lynes Tarianga who remains as a member.

The Electoral Commission has recently been under the spotlight following recent election petitions one of which has resulted in one change in the 4 seats of Efate constituency.
