Pac NGO's want face to face meetings with Forum Leaders

NGOs in the region want a continuation of face to face consultations with Pacific Islands Forum leaders which were accorded to them for the first time ahead of this week's forum meetings in Port Moresby.

The pre-forum meetings were held on Tuesday between the past, present and future chairpersons of the forum namely the leaders of the Marshall Islands, Palau and Papua New Guinea.

Pacific NGO spokesperson Ann Singeo says the pre-forum meetings could become an important space for input from civil society organisations in the region ahead of the forum proper.

"There has never been a time where civil society were given this face to face meeting with the leadership in our Pacific Islands. And that is how we are supposed to work as advocates for Justice and Human rights is that to ensure that those clear messages are delivered to those leaders where it matters."
