Vanuatu Red Cross helps Fiji Red Cross

Vanuatu Red Cross has donated F$10,000 to the Fiji Red Cross in Suva.

A cheque was presented by Communication, Fundraising and Marketing Coordinator, Dickinson Tevi to the Director General of Fiji Red Cross Filipe Nainoca.

The cheque was a donation from the Vanuatu Red Cross Society to assist Fiji Red Cross with the TC Winston relief efforts.

Mr Tevi and his colleague from the Vanuatu State Law, Mr David Thomas visited Fiji Red Cross office for the handing over of the cheque last week.

As an auxiliary to the government, Red Cross national societies throughout the world are mandated to work alongside their government in times of disaster to provide humanitarian assistance to the most in need.

When TC PAM hit Vanuatu last year in March 2015, Fiji Red Cross assisted Vanuatu Red Cross with the response efforts.

Many victims of TC Pam in Vanuatu will still remember the Fiji Red Cross tarpaulins distributed to them.
