Queen Bey is paying tribute to royalty.
Beyonce and Jay-Z took home a trophy at UK music industry's Brit Awards for best international group on Wednesday (Thursday NZ time).
Although the Carters didn't attend the show at London's O2 Arena, the husband-and-wife duo sent a video message to accept their award in front of a portrait of none other than the Duchess of Sussex.
During their acceptance speech, the power couple re-created their iconic APES..T music video, where they stood in front of Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa at the Louvre Museum in Paris. However, the world-famous artwork was replaced by a painting of Meghan Markle draped in pearls and a crown.
"Thank you so much to the Brit Awards for this incredible honour," Beyonce said in the video.
"You guys have always been so supportive. Everything is love. Thank you."
"You're welcome," Jay-Z replied before they both turned to admire the artwork.
The moment was too iconic not to post on Instagram. Beyonce shared their acceptance speech and several other photos of the couple standing in front of the Meghan artwork to her 124 million followers.
"In honour of Black History Month, we bow down to one of our Melanated Monas. Congrats on your pregnancy! We wish you so much joy," she wrote, which is kind of a big deal as Beyonce rarely caption her posts.
Meghan's royal baby with Prince Harry is due in the northern hemisphere spring.
Beyonce also reflected on past memories she's created at the Brit Awards.
"I won this award back in 2002 with my besties, Kelly and Michelle," she wrote, referring to her fellow Destiny's Child members. "How lucky am I to have been in a group with my other best friend, the GOAT Hova."
The homage to Meghan definitely sent Twitter on fire.
Tim O'Brien, the artist who painted the portrait, sent his "congratulations" to the Carters. "Interesting to see my painting of Megan Markle behind @Beyonce and JZ for their Brit award," he added.
Other Twitter users claimed that Beyonce's tribute was a message of support to the new duchess following her unflattering portrayal in the British media.
"Wow, Beyonce and Jay-Z not only making an acceptance video, but doing so in front of a portrait of Meghan Markle," music journalist Laura Snapes tweeted. "Very classy, pointed support of a black woman being treated repulsively by the UK tabloids."
User Tobi Rachel agreed: "Listen yeah, do you even UNDERSTAND how important Beyonce's and Jay's statement was?
"They snubbed the Grammy's yet filmed something for the Brits to honour Meghan Markle as an act of solidarity as she faces the most blatant misogynoir."
User @TheClassicManny said he's "1000 per cent here for it".
"I love how Beyonce in particular is very aware of what's going on in the media and how she makes powerful statements so subtly. They knew exactly what they were doing by having Meghan Markle as Mona Lisa," he added.
