First-ever PNG Youths Fashion Show

The first-ever PNG Youths Fashion Show held during the weekend was created to support the work of Youth Against Corruption Association (YACA) and the WeCARe Foundation.

Youths of Port Moresby initiated the show in collaboration with Fr. John Glynn, founder of YACA and WeCARe Foundation.

Through music, dance and modelling on a runway at the Hilton Hotel, adolescents to young adults amazed the audience with their raw talents.

Besides the spectacular display of local designs and talents by the youths, Miss PNG and Miss Pacific Islands, Leoshina Kariha, graced the occasion with her presence and performance.

Some of the young models displayed designs from local designers, with the intention to promote the talents of PNG youths through charity, mainly supported by Digicel PNG Limited.

Selected designers showed their support by putting a few of their designs on auction, where funds raised were donated to YACA and WeCARe Foundation.

Fr. John Glynn, a naturalized citizen, has lived in PNG for 55 years and most of those years had revolved around children and young people.

Although the two organisations he initiated, WeCARe Foundation – caring for neglected mothers and children – and Youths Against Corruption Association (YACA), were started by default, they have proven to be worthwhile, gaining support from the community.

WeCARe Foundation, for instance, receives support from Digicel PNG as well as from other individuals and YACA is an active voice of Transparency International against corruption in collaboration with Sir Anthony Siaguru Annual Walk Against Corruption.
