MSG Secretariat supports Vanuatu national rugby sevens team

The Director General of the Melanesian Spearhead group, Ambassador Amena Yauvoli has handed over a donation of VT200,000.00 to the President of the Vanuatu Rugby Union, John Miller.

Speaking during the brief ceremony this week, Ambassador Yauvoli emphasized that the MSG Secretariat’s core work programme recognises sports and youth activities as an important tool and catalyst for development in the Melanesian region.

He added that he is honoured to be able to support in a small way to assist our host country’s social development, especially through sports and the donation assistance to the Vanuatu National Rugby Sevens Team is an illustration of the same.

Ambassador Yauvoli wished the Vanuatu national rugby sevens team all the best for the upcoming Oceania Tournament next month in Suva, Fiji.

He further stressed the importance of attending such international competition as an opportunity for our Melanesian sporting youths to gain exposure to the international sporting market.

In response, Mr Miller conveyed their heartfelt gratitude to the Director General of the MSG Secretariat for the kind donation on behalf of the Management and Board of the Vanuatu Rugby Union.

“Such approvals rendered in such a time as this is indeed a great boost and blessing to the Vanuatu Rugby Union especially the Vanuatu National Sevens Team as they prepare for the upcoming qualifier competition in November in Suva, Fiji,” said Mr Miller.
