CNMI to raise fund for 2019 Pacific Games teams

Some sports federations in the CNMI are unsure whether or not to join the 2019 Pacific Games

This is because each of them will have to put out at least $2,500 to $3,000 per athlete coach or official in able to participate according to the Northern Marianas Sports Association.

The games will be happening in six to seven months and NMSA President Michael White advises that each federation should start fundraising now to meet the given estimate.

“I know times are tough and we are all recovering from the storm but we’ve told Samoa that we will send a good-sized delegation of 140 or so. We need to have a good show so that other countries will come to our place in 2021 for the Pacific Mini Games,” said White. NMSA will subsidize some of the cost.

In related news, the Pacific Games organizing committee said that they will put everybody up in hotels, which have now changed. They have identified a central location where they will put every from all over the countries and that is where CNMI will be staying as well.

The sports federations were in talks about looking for charter flights but looks to be out of the question as it will cost more.

The Pacific Games will be held from July 7 to 20 and the competition schedule has been released.
