Kahu selected Vanuatu flag bearer at Tokyo 2020

Vanuatu’s Para-Olympic star, Ken Kahu has been appointed Youths Ambassador and the country’s flag bearer at the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Minister of Youth and Sports Francois Chani says Kahu has shown a lot of potential and deserves the selection.

“I selected Ken Kahu to become our Youths Ambassador and promised to give him a job. This is a star, a javelin champion who will carry our flag and be seen when he performs, by millions of people and this is a literal promotion of Vanuatu to the world.

“I removed a political appointee from his job and gave his position to Ken to allow him to earn a salary because he deserves to be paid”.

Chani added that he has been to one of Kahu’s training sessions and agrees that his performance brings happiness to the people.

“I did not announce my going to their training so when I arrived, there was so much noise I did not think it was a training session until I entered and that’s when you felt like crying because they were the happiest people in the world while they did press up with only one hand or only on one leg.”

“When you look at these people and say that you have a problem but no you don’t have a problem while they have a problem but they deal with it with a glad heart.”
