Cricket PNG (CPNG) officially announced today that the Hebou PNG Barramundis will be touring Hong Kong to take part in the West Pacific Cup (T20), Hong Kong Sixes and the South China Cup (50 Over).
These events will run from 23rd October to 1st November, 2018.
“We are delighted to accept the invitation from Hong Kong Cricket to take part in the West Pacific Cup, Hong Kong Sixes and the South China Cup later this month. This will be the last tour of the year for the Hebou PNG Barramundis and we are all hoping that they finish the year off on a high,” said Greg Campbell, CPNG CEO.
The West Pacific Cup will be a T20 Competition featuring the Hebou PNG Barramundis, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Hong Kong ‘A’ and will be played from 23-25th October, 2018.
CPNG accepted the invitation from Hong Kong Cricket to take part in the famous Hong Kong Sixes from the 26-28th October, 2018. The Hong Kong Sixes is an annual international cricket event which started in 1992, featuring teams of six-a-side playing in a round-robin tournament with knock-out stages. The event will take place across three days featuring international cricket teams and is ICC-sanctioned.
“This will be the first time that the Hebou PNG Barramundis will feature in the famous Hong Kong Sixes. It will be a great opportunity for our boys to showcase their skills against quality international cricket nations in front of a large audience,” said Campbell.
The tour will conclude with the 50 Over Tournament- South China Cup, featuring the Hebou PNG Barramundis, Malaysia and hosts Hong Kong from 30th October to 1st November, 2018.
The Hebou PNG Barramundis squad for the Hong Kong Tour will be named later this week.
They are scheduled to fly out of Port Moresby on Monday 22nd October, 2018.
