Van2017 satisfied with work carried out by contractor CCECC

The organising committee of the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Vanuatu is pleased with the progress of the facilities.

“As an organizing committee we are very confident in the job being done by the contractor of the project CCECC, and that the support of the Government of Vanuatu by the People’s Republic of China is fantastic,” said CEO of Van2017, Mr Clint Flood.

Mr Flood said that for both, in terms of the legacy of the facilities and the athletes, the Government of People’s Republic of China is second to none and with their help, he is confident the athletes and facilities in Vanuatu will be ready to take on the Pacific in less than 150 days.

The Van2017 Organizing committee and Pacific Games Authority joined the Prime Minister of Vanuatu, Charlot Salwai Tabimasmas, on July 4, to have a first-hand look at the progress of the Korman Complex which will be used to host the 2017 Pacific Mini Games in Port Vila from December 4-15.

The official visit to the site by the Government of Vanuatu was made upon request by the Chinese Embassy, through the Ambassador Liu Quan, in order that the progress report of the construction site may be made known.

The Prime Minister thanked the Government of the People’s Republic of China for its continuous support and generous contribution, not just at Korman, but also in the training and preparation of Team Vanuatu’s medal prospects in December 2017, which includes the provision of sport equipment and other forms of support while the Team is in China.

China’s Ambassador noted that on this 35th anniversary since the beginning of relations between the two countries, it was indeed an honour for his country to help provide a leading role in ensuring that the facilities will be ready to host the Games and for our athletes to compete against the best in the Pacific this December.

Ambassador Quan said a lot of energy has been invested in this project of Gymnasiums, especially from the cooperation between the Vanuatu Government, CCECC and the Van2017 organizing committee.

He assured everyone that the project will be completed on time and it is expected that CCECC will hand over the project in October 2017.
