Earthquake of 6.6 magnitude strikes off Vanuatu: USGS

There were no immediate reports of casualties or damage.

The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said there was no tsunami threat from the quake.

 

     

Injuries reported after magnitude 6.6 shakes Afghanistan, Pakistan, India

The USGS said the quake was centred about 40 kilometres west of Ashkasham in remote north-eastern Afghanistan, close to the border with Tajikistan and just across a narrow finger of land from Pakistan's north-western Chitral province.

Radio Australia reports it was measured at a depth of 210 kilometres and struck at about 2:58pm local time.
