Prop Ofa Tuuangafasi became just the fifth All Blacks player to be sent off in a test on Saturday when he was given a red card for a high tackle on Wallabies winger Tom Wright in the 24-22 loss to Australia in Brisbane.

"We just have to be better," Coles told reporters on a conference call on Monday.

"We do a lot of tackling practice in the week. We just have to lower our sights and targets to not get those red cards again.

"I suppose it's one on the chin for us."

Despite outscoring the Wallabies three tries to two in the game at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane, the All Blacks were caught short in the second half, spending very little time in the 22 and constantly under pressure, giving away costly penalties.

The Wallabies opened the scoring with a try to Tom Wright in the third minute of play, marking a dream start for the debut winger from the Brumbies, but New Zealand replied soon afterwards with a try to Rieko Ioane.

Akira Ioane will make his test debut at blindside, two years after he played his first and only game for the All Blacks.

Last year was hard on the Blues loosie and he was close to quitting the sport he loves.

"I wasn't in the right head space and I felt like giving up rugby. That was a pretty dark point in my life."

Ioane first made the All Blacks in 2017, playing one non-test on their end of year tour.

That would be his only appearance before he fell out of favour, struggling with fitness, form and motivation.

With James O'Connor still struggling with a knee injury that ruled him out of last weekend's record 43-5 loss to the All Blacks, 42-test veteran Hodge was named in the side in place of Noah Lolesio, who had a poor game on debut in Sydney.

An injury to lock Lukhan Salakaia-Loto also forced a change in the second row with Rob Simmons set to earn his 104th cap alongside Matt Philip in the fourth Bledisloe Cup clash, that doubles as a Tri-Nations match.

The All Blacks have already sealed the Bledisloe Cup series.

He had missed the earlier three games.

Reece has scored four tries in 7 games for the All Blacks.

He was the Super Rugby Rookie of the Year last year.

Former Fiji under 20 rep, Alex Hodgman is on the bench while Hoskins Sotutu has been rested this week.

Beauden Barrett returns to his preferred first five position while Jordie Barrett moves to fullback.

New Zealand's beaten Australia 43-5 to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the four test series.

The All Blacks had all but locked up the trans-Tasman trophy by halftime, when they led 26-0, having scored four unanswered tries.

First-five Richie Mo'unga scored two of them. The first was a brilliant solo effort from a scrum inside the Wallabies' 22, while the second came when he collected a Beauden Barrett chip kick inside the All Blacks' half and ran away to dot down under the posts.

The ACT Brumbies pair have come in at first and second-five to replace the injured James O'Connor and Matt Toomua in a backline where the seven players have only five more caps between them than captain Michael Hooper (101) has himself.

The match in Sydney also doubles as the third Bledisloe Cup test between the sides, with the Wallabies needing to win to have any hope of winning the series.

A win for the All Blacks would mean the retain the trophy for an 18th straight year.

Coach Ian Foster has largely stuck with the team that put Australia to the sword in the second test at Eden Park, with Sotutu replacing for Ardie Savea, who stayed behind in New Zealand for the birth of his second child.

Sotutu is one of three changes to the starting forward pack for Saturday, with Karl Tu'inukuafe comes in at loosehead prop for Joe Moody, who is unavailable due to the concussion he suffered in the Auckland match.

Savea and Laulala didn't travel with the All Blacks squad to Sydney on Sunday as they are both on paternity leave.

"Ardie's baby boy's arrived so he'll be joining us late this week," All Blacks coach Ian Foster said.

"I'm not sure of the exact day, they're sorting that out, but he'll be over this weekend for us.

"Nep's baby hasn't been born yet so we'll let that happen first and then we'll plan accordingly.

"But the plan is that they're ready and available for the second Bled over there."

Laulala, who turns 29 next month, has been with the Chiefs for the past five years and with the Crusaders prior to that.

He joins fellow All Black props Ofa Tuungafasi, Karl Tu'inukuafe and Alex Hodgman at the Blues.

"My wife and I felt the time was right for us to move closer to our families in Auckland. I went to school in Auckland and our extended families are all there," said Laulala.

All four are to play in the Rugby Championship in Australia, with Laulala granted paternity leave to delay his departure across the Tasman.
