NFL extends deal to play in Mexico

The league and the Mexico Ministry of Tourism have announced an agreement to play three regular-season games from 2019 to 2021.

News of the deal came ahead of Sunday's huge matchup between the Oakland Raiders and defending champions the New England Patriots at Estadio Azteca.

That clash is the second of a current three-year Mexico deal that is set to expire after next season. The league has yet to announce which teams will make the trip in 2018.

Mariota returns to lead Titans past Colts

Back from a hamstring injury, the returning Titans quarterback completed all six of his passes in the fourth quarter to lead Tennessee over the Colts at Nissan Stadium.

The Colts got a game effort from Jacoby Brissett, in what might be his final start before Andrew Luck returns. Brissett was 21 of 37 for 212 yards and a touchdown.

After Mariota led a scoring drive that ended in a 48-yard Ryan Succop field goal, Brissett had the Colts in position for a touchdown on Indianapolis' opening series.

Jarryd Hayne effect

FRU chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu, while applauding former Fiji Bati fullback Hayne's selection, said it was the best news ahead of the Flying Fijians tricky opener against home team England at Twickenham.

Radrodro said the FRU was confident that Hayne's transition from professional rugby league to American Football together with all his achievements as a professional sportsman was an inspiration for the Vodafone Flying Fijians.

"His achievement thus far is remarkable and manifests a nothing is impossible attitude," he said in a media statement.
