Galaxy FC wins Vanuatu Football Champions League

The team defeated Ruerue FC 3-0 at the Luganville Soccer Stadium, last weekend.

Galaxy FC received the VFF CL 2021 trophy with VT2.5 million cash prize.

Runners up of the competition, Ruerue FC walked away with VT1 million.

Both teams have booked their spot in the 2022 Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) with Ruerue FC participating for the first time.

Galaxy FC striker, Kency Tangis scored the first goal with Sika Manuhi adding two extras to give the VFF defending champions its second title in a row.

     

Vanuatu Football Federation Champions League scheduled for June

Currently, Galaxy FC and Malampa Revivors FC have qualified for the 2021 O-League competition.

The football federation is awaiting confirmation from the Oceania Football Confederation (OFC) and the Fijian government, about the hosting of the venue.

The competition usually takes place in Port Vila however VFF has decided to take the competitions to its Member Associations as well.

VFF’s Competition Manager, Bong Shem confirmed that the competition will bring together all active soccer league champion clubs in Vanuatu, coming from their respective Associations.

Manchester City beat PSG in Champions League semi final

PSG went ahead courtesy of a Marquinhos header in the first half, but Mauricio Pochettino's side lost control after the break with De Bruyne and Mahrez finding the back of the net in the space of eight minutes to secure City's 18th consecutive away win in all competitions.

Last year's runners-up PSG then found themselves with a higher mountain to climb as Idrissa Gueye picked up a straight red card in the 77th minute for a reckless challenge on Ilkay Gundogan.
