Digicel completes Share Purchase Agreement for Tonga Cable Ltd

As a result, Government will be able to co-finance alongside the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank, the extension of the fibre optic cable to Vava’u and Ha’apai Islands for an improved telecommunication service in both Island groups. 

This announcement reinforces Digicel’s objective to increase accessibility to and penetration of communications to Tonga – as well as to deliver the economic and social benefits that communications bring.

Digicel launches Samsung Galaxy S8 at ICT Days 2017

Digicel and TVL agree to provide free access to web-based Public Health Information System for MoH Health Workers

This is thanks to a Memorandum of Understanding signed 21 March with Digicel Vanuatu Ltd, which Telecom Vanuatu Limited (TVL) will sign next week.  

Health Information Systems (HIS) are used to collect critical information about the illnesses being treated by health workers from around the country. In 2014, the Vanuatu Ministry of Health, supported by the World Health Organization, built VanPHIS2, which utilizes an open-source information system with visualization features including GIS, charts, and pivot tables, and is a system used in more than 40 countries around the world. 

Digicel DJ Festival creates enthusiasm in Vanuatu

The initiative was warmly acknowledged by organizers with the festival becoming successful and popular over the years.

Shefa team gets timely boost from Digicel

The games will be held from 25th November to 4th December 2016.

A fundraising was organised on Friday 4th November   2016 at Willie Jimmy’s recreational compound at Tebakor Area.

We encourage people in Port Vila to join Digicel and support the next fundraising on Friday 18th                      November 2016 from 10am onward.

The day will be full of activities with sport activities and competitions, food and kava on sale and a lottery.

Women vendors receive umbrellas to protect themselves

The umbrellas will protect the women from the sun and the rain.

The temporary market caters for women from Teouma, Erangorango and other areas around Efate.

On most occasions, the women can be seen selling their produce and crafts while cradling their babies in the sun.

Manples Market is popular because of its location beside the main road and Au Bon Marche.

Fresh produce is available throughout the week.

The market was temporarily relocated to make way for work to be carried out at the old market site. 

     

Brave police officer rewarded with new mobile phone

Constable Anthony Kendang and his colleagues, from the Superintendent Operations Office in Boroko, were responding to an armed robbery at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Downtown Port Moresby on Monday morning.

During the robbery, an armed suspect shot him. Luckily, the bullet missed his heart when it hit his mobile phone and power pack, which was in his pocket at the time of the incident.

The lucky police officer was saved by a mobile phone, which acted as a shield for his heart when the bullet was fired.

Digicel sets sights on future at Business Solutions Conference

The conference, which was held for Digicel Leaders in the Pacific Markets, was hosted by Gary Cobain, Head of Digicel Pacific ICT Business Solutions.

The two-day event served as a training platform for Digicel staff to increase their knowledge of business products and services to provide better solutions for Digicel’s business customers.

Gary Cobain said the conference focused on increasing awareness of the benefits technology can deliver for businesses across the South Pacific region including greater efficiencies and increased productivity.
