Farmers training

Farm Support Association – Vanuatu and Tanna Coffee conduct farmers training

“It’s a potential source of income for them and we’ve been conducting several trainings for farmers on producing good quality coffee,” says Peter Koah, the Association Director of Farm Support Association – Vanuatu.

Located 400m above sea level, the deep rich volcanic soils of Tanna Island make it one of the most highly fertile and an ideal location for growing pure and organic coffee in Vanuatu.

Citrus grafting training for Vanuatu’s North Efate farmers

Over 20 key men and women farmers in Paunangisu and Eton villages had the opportunity to learn how to plant citrus trees and increase production, especially Tahitian lime as the future looks bright in terms of market opportunity.

The citrus grafting training was facilitated by DARD’s Fruit and Spices Officer, Fernand Massing, assisted by AAO Keith Amos.

The training included theory and practical sessions.

Most of the famers who attended the training have engaged in planting Tahitian lime and others were interested to start planting.
