Game of Thrones stage show to bring Westeros to the West End and Broadway

The show will open in 2023 and depict a pivotal gathering a decade before the events in George RR Martin's novels and the hit TV series.

Some of the best-known characters from the epic story will be involved.

The show will be brought to life by the British pair of playwright Duncan MacMillan and director Dominic Cooke.

"The production will boast a story centred around love, vengeance, madness and the dangers of dealing in prophecy, in the process revealing secrets and lies that have only been hinted at until now," a statement said.

Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon ordered by HBO

House of the Dragon will be set about 300 years before events in the original series, which ended its eight-season run earlier this year.

The announcement came hours after another planned prequel, due to star Naomi Watts, was reportedly cancelled.

Game of Thrones was HBO's most popular series. It won multiple Emmy awards and drew tens of millions of viewers.

Netflix wins 'bidding war' for Game of Thrones creators Benioff and Weiss

Variety reported that Netflix won a "three-way bidding war that had recently narrowed from the six major studios to Netflix, Amazon and Disney".

Netflix boss Ted Sarandos said he was "thrilled to welcome" the "master storytellers".

Benioff and Weiss added how "grateful" they were to HBO, the US network that broadcast Game of Thrones.

HBO is also going to broadcast the forthcoming Game of Thrones prequel, which will be shown in 2020 at the earliest.

Acting filled the rugby void for Game of Thrones star Joe Naufahu

The former New Zealand Colts midfield back had to quit the game at 26 due to a degenerative knee problem.

Naufahu, 41, who played Khal Moro in the sixth series of Game of Thrones, was playing for Glasgow in the Celtic League when forced to retire.

The one-time Southland and Canterbury representative told BBC Scotland he struggled to adjust without rugby in his life.

To fill the void he turned to weightlifting, returning to New Zealand to work on construction sites before opening a gym in Auckland.

Amazon error as second Game of Thrones episode is uploaded early

The second instalment of the eighth and final series was not supposed to be broadcast until Sunday evening.

But some Amazon Prime members were able to watch it several hours before that.

"We regret that for a short time Amazon customers in Germany were able to access episode two of season eight of Game of Thrones," an Amazon spokesman said.

"This was an error and has been rectified."

It may have been taken down soon after it was uploaded, but it was long enough for many fans to view the whole episode.

Game of Thrones prequel's full main cast revealed

Eight rising stars have been cast in main roles, set to star alongside Naomi Watts, who was previously announced as a series lead.

What roles each new actor is playing is being kept under wraps, but a little more about the plot has also been teased.

"Only one thing is for sure: From the horrifying secrets of Westeros' history to the true origin of the White Walkers, the mysteries of the East to the Starks of legend - it's not the story we think we know," HBO says in a logline.

Game of Thrones baby names still proving popular

A record 76 baby girls were called Khaleesi in 2017, the title enjoyed by Emilia Clarke's dragon-raising would-be queen in the award-winning fantasy TV and book series.

Three more children were called Daenarys, the real name of the show's Mother of Dragons. And more girls than ever before received the name Sansa, another significant figure on the show.

But if baby-naming is a reliable indicator, Game of Thrones' most popular character appears to be Arya, with 343 newborns given the same name as Maisie Williams' sword-wielding Stark.

Game of Thrones final season delayed until 2019

The delay has long been rumoured as producers take their time making sure the eighth and final season is appropriately epic and climactic.

Turner, who plays Sansa Stark in the hit fantasy show, merrily gave the sad news to Variety.

"I'm really excited. Game of Thrones comes out in 2019," she said.

Filming for Game of Thrones season eight has already begun, although it kicked off later than for previous seasons, and some of the final episodes will reportedly be feature film-length.

Stars from Game of Thrones and Bake Off on 'the hardest job in the world'

Great British Bake Off winner Nadiya Hussain agrees: "It's the hardest job I've ever done."

So are they talking about fame, acting, presenting? No, actually, they're talking about being a mum.

The pair spoke to BBC Radio 5 Live for its #mumtakeover event, along with Loose Women panellist Stacey Solomon, who said she was "fed a fairytale".

The frank videos posted on BBC Radio 5 Live website are part of the radio station's discussion on motherhood and mental health.

Game of Thrones: Traffic ban on Dark Hedges road begins

The tunnel of beech trees on the Bregagh Road near Armoy, County Antrim, is now a major tourist attraction.

The scene was used by the Game of Thrones crew to represent the Kingsroad in the HBO drama series.

Despite the ban, brought on by concerns about the impact of traffic on the site, some drivers were still using the road as normal on Monday.

The ban is being enforced along the Bregagh Road, from its junction with Ballinlea Road to its junction with Ballykenver Road.
