New directory to connect Pacific exporters with US consulting companies

The directory provides a list of U.S. companies with expertise in business-to-business matchmaking, distribution, marketing, and biosecurity compliance who are eager to work in Fiji and other Pacific markets. The directory is follow-up from the March 2021 Direct Line virtual conference “Growing the Fiji Brand: U.S. Services Needed” that attracted dozens of companies from across the United States eager to help Pacific exporters thrive.

Exporters furious at Air NZ's treatment of the Pacific

Their products are desperately needed in the islands and some are perishable. But, they are being taken off with no warning given.

Blair Krill from exporting company SAMEX Ltd, which sources a wide variety of products from suppliers around New Zealand for Pacific customers, said 95 per cent of its business is done in the islands and its taking a devastating hit.

“Air New Zealand quite frankly don’t give a damn, our freight rates have gone up 300 to 400 per cent," he said.

Pacific Trade Invest shows Pacific path to market

A group of 28 companies from eight Pacific Islands Forum countries will be part of the PT&I NZ Pasifika Festival delegation – the biggest group of small businesses and entrepreneurs organised by PT&I to attend the festival to date. The festival is New Zealand’s largest Polynesian festival.

The delegates offer a wide range of distinctive Pacific Islands products from handicrafts and carvings to various processed food products.They are hoping to test demand and use techniques learnt from the PT&I Path 2 Market programme attended last year.

Exporters from Kiribati, the Marshall Islands, Niue, Tuvalu, the Cook Islands and Palau are in New Zealand this week to learn more about breaking their products into a larger export market.

Iva Reimers-Roberto, from Robert Reimers Enterprises in the Marshall Islands, says they are looking to export their organic, and 100% pure Pandanus juice to New Zealand, Australia and Japan.
