Dan Carter opens up on life after rugby, high pressure moments

The Art of Winning, which the former fly-half has been working on over the last two years, comes as Carter deals with transitioning from professional athlete to retiree.

In an interview with Seven Sharp's Hilary Barry, Carter said that he's always had a winning mentality, which has made his new life a significant change.

"Rugby's been such a big part of my life. I've been playing since I was six years old.

"And then to commit to not playing anymore, and trying to figure out what's next."

Italian legend confirms retirement

It will bring an end to a 21-year professional career.

Parisse, 39, previously announced he would retire from international rugby after the 2019 World Cup but changed his mind as his final game was cancelled.

In 2021 he also said he would retire but once again had a change of heart.

"I will finish next June," the Toulon number eight told Rugbyrama.

"I know that after 20 years in professional rugby, there will be difficult moments. I know that I will miss rugby and I am trying to prepare myself for this period of my life in the best possible conditions."

Tyson Fury retires from boxing again after short-lived comeback

  Fury turned 34 on Friday and posted a message on social media saying: “Massive thanks to everyone who had an input in my career over the years & after long hard conversations (I've finally) decided to walk away & on my 34th birthday I say Bon voyage.”

That seemingly puts Fury back into retirement, after he announced on Tuesday that he was returning to boxing in order to set up a fight against Derek Chisora, a fellow Briton whom he beat twice early in his career.

Serena Williams suggests retirement after US Open

Ash Taylor retires from Warriors

The 27-year-old has osteoarthritis and played just one game for the Warriors this season because of hip problems.

Taylor had played for the Brisbane Broncos, Gold Coast Titans and the Warriors over the career that spanned 116 games.

"Three shoulder reconstructions, two compound fractured fingers, hand, arm, wrist, ankle, abductor and the more recent hip surgery I think my body has been through a bit.

World number one Ash Barty retires

"Current WTA world number one Ashleigh Barty has today announced her retirement from professional tennis following a remarkable career at the top of the women's game," the WTA said in a statement this afternoon.

In a statement on Instagram, Barty said today was "difficult and filled with emotion for me" as I announce my retirement from tennis.

"I am so thankful for everything this sport has given me and leave feeling proud and fulfilled. Thank you to everyone who has supported me along the way, I'll always be grateful for the lifelong memories that we created together."

Tyson Fury says he will retire after Dillian Whyte fight in April

The unbeaten 33-year-old is a two-time world champion, winning 31 of 32 professional fights.

He drew with American Deontay Wilder in the first of their three fights, before winning the second and third bouts.

Asked whether he would call time on his career after fighting Whyte at Wembley Stadium on 23 April, Fury said: "100%."

Adams, 37, says she is officially "hanging up these size 14 throwing shoes".

She broke down as she explained she had contemplated about her journey after winning bronze in the Tokyo Olympics.

"I took some time to really process this thought and to see if this was something I actually wanted to do again. My heart, mind and body simply answered the question for me, so it is time for me to call it a day."

NFL great Tom Brady expected to retire after winning seven Super Bowls

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback, 44, has won seven Super Bowls in an astonishing career spanning 22 seasons.

It was widely reported on Saturday evening that he had decided to retire, but his company TB12 Sports then deleted a tweet confirming the news.

And later, speaking to the NFL Network, Brady's father Tom Brady Sr said his son had not yet "made a final decision".

Brady, a five-time Super Bowl Most Valuable Player, won six titles with the New England Patriots before his final triumph with the Buccaneers last year.
