'Bout manipulation system' in place at Rio

McLaren said the first of three stages of the investigation looked into the refereeing and judging at Rio where controversial decisions in certain bouts made the headlines.

"The seeds of this were sown years before, starting from at least the Olympic Games of the 21st century through the events around 2011 and London 2012," McLaren told a news conference in Lausanne.

"The qualifying competitions along the route to participation in Rio in 2016 were the practice ground for the corruption and manipulation of bouts at Rio.

Police have queried their accounts of a robbery they reported in Rio on Sunday.

The four swimmers said they had been robbed at gunpoint in a taxi in Rio.

But police said their account of when they arrived at the Olympic Village did not square with CCTV recordings.

Fan in the stands beats own record at Rio

At the age of 10, Mr Nelson attended the 1932 Los Angeles Olympics and, apart from the 1936 Games in Berlin, he's been at every one since. Now, at 94, he's made it to his 19th Games in Rio.

Talakhadze takes gold with world-record lift

Lasha Talakhadze set a new world record for total combined weight lifted in the men's over 105kg competition to claim gold at Rio 2016.

The 22-year-old Georgian, gold medallist in the same category at the World Weightlifting Championships in 2015, secured victory by a comfortable margin with a combined total lift of 473kg.

Bolt claims third gold in 100m sprint

Jason Kenny wins his 5th Olympic Gold

London 2012 champion Kenny came out on top in the first two races to win the best-of-three final.

Russia's Denis Dmitriev beat Australia's Matthew Glaetzer in the race for bronze.

 Britain’s Kenny, 28, has now won as many Olympic golds as rower Sir Steve Redgrave and fellow cyclist Sir Bradley Wiggins.

Only Sir Chris Hoy, also a cyclist, has won more with six but, Kenny can still beat Hoy’s record when he races in the Keirin on Tuesday.

In a report, Kenny told BBC that the win was so special Kenny told BBC Sport.

Australian athletes banned from beaches after dark

Australia's athletes have been banned from two of Rio de Janeiro's popular beaches after dark due to security concerns.

American six-time Olympic gold medallist Ryan Lochte was confirmed to have been held up at gunpoint on Sunday, while two Australian rowing coaches were robbed at knifepoint shortly after the Games' opening ceremony.
