Ryan James

James confident Titans can go back to the glory days

The 26-year-old forward was signed as a teenager and identified early in the club's history as a player to build a bright future around, and James now believes the time for that hope to be realised has arrived.

He has seen the tough times at the club, but now insists they are about to end.

"When I started at the Titans it was the glory days. I debuted in first grade in 2010 when we were one game off making the grand finale," James told NRL.com.

James has spent his entire NRL career at the club and with a total of 93 games played, Ryan will be looking to help the younger and less experienced players further develop their abilities.

"This is not just a proud moment for me, it also means a lot to my family," James said. "I’ve grown up in the local area and have never had any thoughts of playing for anyone else.

Titans stars welcome halves headache

The rapid emergence of 2016 Rookie of the Year Ash Taylor on the back of the recruitment of up-and-coming star Kane Elgey – plus the strong 2016 form of former Knights Tyrone Roberts – leaves Henry in the rare position of having three genuine starting halves to choose from.

Ryan James re-signs with Titans

Despite a number of clubs registering interest in the 25-year-old, James said staying with the Titans was always his main priority.

"I'm glad we've been able to get it all sorted and over the line," James said. "It's all come to an end point now and I get to be at the club that I love for the next four years.

Bennett hunting Sims and James to bolster pack

Sims is unsettled at Newcastle and is keen to settle at a more established and successful club, meaning there is high possibility of him walking out on the final year of his $400,000 a year contract.

Meanwhile James has reportedly been offered a big money contract by the inter-state rivals, although he is set to reject the deal and finalise a new three-year commitment to the Titans.

Bennett is desperate for a forward leader and might have to settle for only Sims, with James likely to stay put at the Gold Coast.
