Principal, Sarah Chambers said “I am thrilled to announce that an amazing young ni-Vanuatu woman, Raine Kalotiti is the recipient of the new 3-year scholarship provided through the very generous support of the Kotara Community of Schools in Newcastle, NSW, Australia.”

When announced, Raine said “I cried with joy and then went for a swim in the ocean before I could believe it was real. An opportunity like this is amazing and I am so grateful to the Kotara Community for providing this for me.”

Mikayla Lowry, 17, was caught off-guard as supporting act DJ Khaled took to the stage in Pheonix last week to announce she was the recipient of the grant.

"This is the best part of the night," Khaled said.

"The On the Run tour will acknowledge an extraordinary individual making a difference in this world."

Lowry, an A-grade student, was part of a group attending the concert from a local Boys and Girls Club, and dreamed of becoming a Marine Biologist, Khaled revealed.

He called her “a true role model.”
