Djokovic back in Serbia after Australia deportation over visa row

The top men's tennis player was deported after losing a visa battle that centred on the fact he is unvaccinated.

Supporters gathered at the airport in Belgrade, waving the national flag and chanting "we love Novak".

"This is a shame what they did to Novak in Australia," one supporter said. "This is a shame what the world has come to."

"I myself am vaccinated, double-jabbed, but I think no-one should be forced to do something... he was judged and sentenced for his freedom of choice," he added.

Baby found by teenagers in -20C in Siberia doing well

The newborn was found by five teenagers in an egg box on a remote road near the village of Sosnovka outside Novosibirsk on Friday, local reports say.

The baby girl was rushed to hospital by one of the teenagers' parents where she was declared fit and well.

Police looking for the mother have opened a criminal investigation into the attempted murder of a minor.

The parents of one of the teenagers who found the baby wish to adopt her but must wait to see whether her relatives can be found.

Serbia hit with UEFA stadium ban

UEFA announced the ban on home fans – which is for two matches, with one suspended for a probationary period of 12 months – on Monday.

Portugal beat Serbia 4-2 in Belgrade in a Euro 2020 qualifier in September that was marred by the behaviour of the home supporters.

UEFA charged the Football Association of Serbia with six offences, including racist behaviour, illicit chants, the setting off of fireworks and field invasions by supporters.

Serbia 1 Wales 1: Mitrovic denies Coleman's men again

Wales have not reached a World Cup since 1958 and they remain four points behind their opponents at the Group D summit after goals from Aaron Ramsey and Mitrovic.

Although Wales' winless run goes on without suspended star man Gareth Bale, they will surely ruefully reflect on the opportunities passed up in four consecutive draws prior to visiting Belgrade - rather than a hard-fought point here - if they fail to close the gap to Serbia.

The unwanted streak includes a draw secured by Mitrovic's late header for Serbia in Cardiff in November.

Bosnia to challenge ruling clearing Serbia of genocide

Bakir Izetbegovic, a member of Bosnia's tripartite presidency, said the appeal would be launched before a 10-year deadline expired on 26 February.

Bosnian Serb officials warned the move would trigger a new political crisis.

In 2007, the International Court of Justice (ICJ) cleared Serbia of direct responsibility for genocide.

The ICJ found only one act of genocide during Bosnia's 1992-95 war - the massacre of about 8,000 Bosnian Muslim (Bosniak) men and boys by Bosnian Serb forces in the town of Srebrenica in 1995.

Hungary declares emergency, seals border, detains migrants

Chaos ensued at the border, as hundreds of migrants piled up in a no man's land, and Serbian officials reacted with outrage.

Stuck for an unknown amount of time on a strip of road between the two countries' checkpoints, those fleeing violence in their homelands pitched tents and settled in. But frustrations were on the rise. As a police helicopter hovered above, migrants chanted "Open the border!" and shouted insults at Hungarian riot police. Some refused food and water in protest.

VIDEO: Migrants break out from Hungary collection point

Migrants made two attempts to break free from a police line at a collection point for migrants in Roszke but were pushed back.

In one of the attempts, as many as 200 migrants and refugees broke out of the collection point and fled into a nearby cornfield.

There were chaotic scenes and some minor scuffles as police struggled to keep them back.

Migrants keep entering Hungary as work on fence speeds up

Occasional scuffles broke out and one man was slightly hurt in a stampede. Some disheartened migrants, weary of waiting for transport to a registration center, tried to go back to Serbia but police blocked their way.

"We've been here for two days and the Hungarian government only brings one bus?" said a Syrian man, who gave only his first name, Ali.

Serbian leader criticizes Hungary for migrant border fence

Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic spoke as he talked to migrants from the Middle East, Africa and Asia who were camping Wednesday in a Belgrade park. He said Serbia has no plans to build fences on its border even though it is being overwhelmed by the flood of migrants.

Vucic says "we won't build those wires, those barbed wires. It only takes for someone to switch the electricity through those wires and to finish the job."

Soldiers in Hungary begin building fence to stop migrants

On the outskirts of the southern village of Asotthalom, soldiers on Monday were using heavy machinery to drive metal rods into the ground, the first steps in the construction of the nearly 4-meter (13-foot) high fence which the government wants to finish by Aug. 31.

More than 100,000 migrants have reached Hungary on routes across the Balkans so far in 2015.
