Vanuatu Beach Volleyball sends two teams to Taipei

The tournament, which will be held from 7-11 August 2019 is part of the competition pathway in preparation for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.

Players and teams will be looking to gain ranking points and the increased tournament participation needed to help with Olympic qualification.

The four Vanuatu players are Miller Pata, Sherysyn Toko, Loti Joe, and 18-year-old Maybel Ravo.

There will 20 women’s teams competing in the Asian Tour event with Vanuatu, the only Pacific country in the draw.

Solomon Islands will continue to push for Taipei at UN

Mr Sogavare was welcoming Taiwan's new ambassador to the Solomons, Roger Luo.

The prime minister described Taiwan as a true friend to Solomon Islands for standing by it in its time of need including during the ethnic tensions.

He said the relationship could only grow stronger.

Mr Sogavare said Solomon Islands was not afraid to speak for Taiwan at the UN.

Taipei has agreed to fund a new stadium for the 2023 Pacific Games to be held in Solomon Islands and Mr Luo said a construction firm had been identified.
