Vanuatu has not competed in the regional championships since 2010 and despite putting in some heavy training hours over the past six months, nothing can replace competition rugby.
There is no doubt the opposition they will encounter in Suva will be a steep learning curve.
Vanuatu will take on Cook Islands in their opening game at 1.06pm (local time) at the ANZ stadium in Suva.
