Vanuatu Cultural Centre undertakes research on Ambae community

The field researches shed light on several important challenges and issues facing the Ambae community, including among others, the vulnerability of the Maewo Ambae Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) that was perceived as a threat even before the disaster.

“The field researches visit the camps and victims of Lombwenbwen volcano from north to south of Maewo.

“The team was able to collect stories of the Ambae community on Maewo, focusing on the impact on their traditional knowledge, cultural expressions, customs and protocols or Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH)”.
