Tablet computers to facilitate cargo examination for Vanuatu Customs

"Examination of cargo at import and export is a crucial part of Customs operation, both for the purpose of protecting government revenue and our borders," the department said.

According to the DCIR, the current examination process is time consuming because officers will have to return to the office to complete the examination process in the ASYCUDA system.

However, with the new tablet computers, cargoes can now be examined and the process completed in real time by using the tablets to connect directly to the ASYCUDA system.
