Vanuatu Electoral Office launches new official website

The website contains the latest information about election procedures and results.

Minister of Internal Affairs, Ishmael Kalsakau said, “It is said ‘knowledge is power’ but I want to remind everyone that the right of Ni-Vanuatu citizen to vote is powerful indeed.”

“The VEO website provides at the same time the power of information and knowledge and helps our citizens to make informed decisions about casting their votes,” Kalsakau said.

VEO prepares for Efate Rural by-election, Luganville Municipal elections

The electoral office is receiving ballot papers for the Efate Rural & Off- Shore islands by-elections.

The Chairman of the Vanuatu Electoral Commission, Martin Tete, has reminded voters in the Efate Rural & Off- Shore islands constituency that Polling Day will take place on Monday, 2 September 2019.

Tete also confirmed that all 29 polling stations will be officially opened to voters at 7.30 am and will close at 4.30 pm.

NZ aids Vanuatu Electoral Office

The announcement was made through the United Nations Development Programme's Vanuatu Electoral Environment Project which is working to improve civic education and voter awareness, to build the capacity of the electoral authorities and to enhance the voter registry.

New Zealand's high commissioner to Vanuatu, Jonathan Schwass, said the project will also help the Vanuatu government advance its Political Parties Bill, which is intended to increase political stability.
