Vanuatu’s Table Tennis star player qualifies for Tokyo Olympics

The Table Tennis star male player and champion has qualified on merit.

This was confirmed by the Vanuatu Table Tennis Federation.

“Vanuatu Table Tennis Federation once again congratulate our Champion and Table Tennis Star Yoshua Shing who again is the first Vanuatu Athlete to qualify on Merit for the 2021 Tokyo Olympic Games,” the Federation said.

“This is the 4th consecutive Olympic Games that Vanuatu Table Tennis has attended and 3rd Olympics for Yoshua Shing.

“We are so proud of him and wish him all the best.”

VPC hands over table tennis table to Wan Smol Bag

Margaret Macfarlane President of VPC said, “We are very fortunate to have had a donation of 10 tables through the Embassy of the Peoples Republic of China (PRC). We know that Wan Smol Bag has a very strong inclusion programme and that the table will be well used and cared for. We are already starting to plan for the 2024 Paralympic Games in Paris. We would like to establish an emerging young para table tennis group at Wan Smol Bag and hope to have discussions on how to fund bus fares to bring young people living with a disability to the WSB Centre to learn to play.”

Vanuatu represents Oceania at Table Tennis World Cup

Anolyn Lulu and Stephanie Qwea flew out of the country Monday to join Priscilla Tommy, who is currently training in Japan.

It was a positive news for Vanuatu following the withdrawal of Australia’s women’s team from the competition which gave Vanuatu the opportunity to represent the continent at the much anticipated World Cup.

There will be a total 38 matches (19 men + 19 women) and seeding for the teams will be based on the latest available Team World Ranking List on November 5.

Rossi wins three Samoa 2019 badminton titles as Vanuatu prove Pacific powerhouse in table tennis

Strong performances during the early rounds of competition had seen Rossi advance to the men’s singles, doubles and mixed doubles finals.

He clinched victory in the men’s singles by overcoming New Caledonia’s Yohan De Geoffroy convincingly 21-11, 21-11.

Rossi was joined on the podium by his compatriot Louis Beaubois, who battled to an 18-21, 22-20, 21-17 win over Quentin Bernaix in an all-Tahiti bronze medal match.

The men’s doubles saw Rossi team up with Rauhiri Goguenheim to impressive effect, as they beat Bernaix and Tarepa Bourgery 21-16, 21-13.
