Air Vanuatu extends grace period on domestic ID checks

In conjunction with the Ministry of Internal Affairs through the Office of the Civil Status, Air Vanuatu has announced it will allow a two months grace period to domestic passengers traveling without a valid photo ID.

“Air Vanuatu appreciates the continuous effort made by the Government of Vanuatu in issuing a nationwide identification facility. It has tremendously assisted the airline with the implementation of its domestic ID check policy.”

“We also understand a number of financial and technical challenges are met by the issuing authority during this lengthy process and we will continue to collaborate with the Office of Civil Status.” Says Paul Pio, Air Vanuatu Marketing & Communication Manager.

The extension is valid for passengers, in particular children, infants and students, travelling from Bauerfield Domestic Airport, Pekoa Airport and Whitegrass Airport. Birth certificates are accepted as temporary ID during the extension period.

The two months extension will end on 30 September 2019.

Other documents are accepted such as the passports, National VPNF Card, driver’s license, school ID card, company cards etc.”

Effective 01 October 2019, all passengers travelling from Bauerfield Domestic Airport, Pekoa Airport and Whitegrass Airport will be required to present a valid photo ID upon check-in.
