Famous Vanuatu school gets a makeover from China

Vanuatu's Prime Minister, Charlot Salwai, has opened a major Chinese funded and built extension of Malapoa College.

China provided $US10.6 million dollars for the project which has doubled the size of the school.

According to RNZ Pacific, reliable sources in the Ministry of Education have indicated the government may turn the school into the country's national university.

The school was known as the British Secondary School before independence in 1980.
