Vanuatu with a long history of Arabica Coffee production, is best known for its coffee in many parts of the word.

The Tanna Coffee Development Company is an internationally recognized brand which encourages farmers around Tanna to produce organic coffee.

The International Coffee Day will be open to everyone and there will be educational displays on coffee growing, harvesting, processing and roasting from ‘Tree to the Cup’.

Practical demonstrations on the various methods of coffee brewing, espresso making, some latte art and children’s ‘coffee sack’ races are lined up for the International Coffee day celebrations.

The overall event will culminate in a local ‘Barista Championship’ that will be open to all-comers from the many cafe’s, hotels and resorts sourced from within Vanuatu’s Tourism and Hospitality Industries.

A total of 1,148 small-holder farmers in Tanna have been certified organic coffee farmers under Organic Pasifika’s Certification standard.

Tanna Coffee says these farmers are fully supported and registered with Tanna Coffee and this adds enormously to the fair –trade commitment to ethical and sustainable agricultural development.

The event is jointly sponsored by ‘Vanuatu Brewing Limited’, who are Tanna Coffee’s local coffee distributor and are also the producers of Vanuatu’s famous ‘Tusker’ beer.
