On-site graduation for Peace Corps at Vanuatu’s Eratap Centre School

Peace Corps Vanuatu and Eratap Centre School in south-east Efate witnessed the on-site graduation of Peace Corps volunteers who were based at the school.

The graduation is part of the Peace Corps 3/6 concept that allows communities to get three volunteers for a total of six years.

The  ceremony held at Eratap Centre School brought together teaching staff, the former and current school principal, the school chairman, the three host families and friends.

During the event, the programming and training specialist, Lensay Tambe emphasized the sustainability of projects carried out by the three volunteers.

The projects included a brand new library, a successful mama's English class and upgrade of the library and computer lab.

The school’s principal said the school has not successfully secured a full-time librarian but he is confident the teachers can carry out the responsibilities of a librarian.

"I believed my teachers are well trained for multi-tasking and they can look after the library and the computer lab".

He also acknowledged the Peace Corps office in Port Vila for sending three dedicated and committed volunteers who served successfully at the school since 2011.
