Vanuatu’s Lycee LAB celebrates Golden Jubilee

The leading French School in Vanuatu Lycee Louis Antoine de Bougainville will celebrate its 50 years of existence this week.

The golden jubilee committee said that the school will be celebrating its Golden Jubilee with a 4-day celebration starting today, Tuesday 21 August 2018.

A panel discussion, live music entertainment, food stalls and sport activities will kick off celebrations.

Since the school’s establishment since independence, Lycee Louis Antoine de Bougainville started shaping some of the best people that majority are now occupying key positions in the government and also in the private sector.

Celebration Committee says Lycee is playing a significant role in economic and human development in Vanuatu.

Lycee school has trained most of the French speaking leaders, lawyers, economists, teachers, nurses and many others who can speak both language French and English.

“Being bilingual is an asset in a workforce, whether in the public service or in private and any other sectors at the national level and internationally.”

English language is currently dominating the society and urged current and future students to bring back the language equality in Vanuatu’s society.

“The golden jubilee of the Lycee is a moment of observation of the realization of the past and at the same time a projection of the future steps for the school,” the celebration committee stated.

All former students living in Port Vila and Efate are invited to join the ministers, current students and teachers in a parade this morning to launch the celebration, starting from Saralana stage in Port Vila.
