Vanuatu mayor arrested for alleged hit-and-run incident

The mayor of Vanuatu's capital, Port Vila, has been arrested for his alleged involvement in a hit-and-run incident.

Lord Mayor Albert Daniel was detained for driving his official car while drunk as he was visiting his relatives in North Efate.

The Daily Post reports he is likely to be charged and will face trial.

A police commander, Jackson Noal, said no one is above the law, and anyone found driving drunk will be arrested.
