Vanuatu Minister issues overstayer warning

Vanuatu's Minister of Home Affairs Andrew Napuat has warned all MPs not to interfere with the work of Operation Gateway which is targeting over stayers.

Hundreds of foreigners are alleged to have overstayed or have issues with their visas and work permits.

The Minister made the comment to the media amid reports MPs are trying to apply pressure on Operation Gateway staff to help over stayers.

But Mr Napuat said he had given all foreign residents of Port Vila and investors approximately three weeks to ensure they have updated documents.

Mr. Napuat said any MP found to be trying to help foreigners bypass the law would be dealt with.
