Vanuatu Mobile Force Officer commended for joint service with ADF

A senior officer of the Vanuatu Mobile Force (VMF), Major Sergeant Warrant Officer 2 Joshua Bong has been acknowledged for support and assistance to the Australian Defence Force.

Bong received a bronze medal for his support and assistance to the ADF during Operation Render Safe conducted in Port Vila in December 2018.

The medal was presented by the Chief of the defence force of the Australian Army, General Angus J. Campbell in a ceremony at the Cooks Barrack in Port Vila.

 “I commend you for exemplary assistance to the Australian defence force explosive ordnance team who conducted the unplanned Operation Render Safe activity in and around Port Vila, Vanuatu in December 2018.

“Your contribution was vital to the success of the operation which ensured the safe removal and expeditious disposal of dangerous unexploded world war two ordnance from the residential suburb of Malapoa estate in Port Vila,” General Campbell stated.

He said the outcome of operation demonstrated a fine example of the interoperability and friendship of the ADF and the VMF.
