Vanuatu region registers 5.5 mag quake

A 5.5 magnitude earthquake occurred in the Vanuatu region yesterday.

The seismology Unit of the Department of Mineral Resources in Suva, Fiji reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10km.

It was registered at 362km from Lenakel, Vanuatu; 673km Northeast from Noumea, New Caledonia; and 672km Southwest from Suva, Fiji.

Fiji Times reports the department noted that this seismic activity did not pose an immediate threat to the Fiji region.
