Vanuatu super fund releases money to Ambae victims

The Vanuatu National Provident Fund has released $US792,000 to the victims of the Ambae volcano disaster.

The Vanuatu Daily Post reported these funds were released from the retirement accounts of 515 members now living in Santo and Port Vila.

They had successfully claimed 20 percent of their accounts in a scheme designed to aid the people evacuated from Ambae.

Following the major ash fall from Ambae's Lombenben volcano early this year, the government issued an order for the Fund to provide financial assistance to its affected members.

The scheme also covers immediate families of the victims residing in Santo and Port Vila who want to help.
