VBTC works on live coverage of remaining Vanuatu U 20 matches

Vanuatu Broadcasting and Television Corporation is working with its partners to bring live coverage of the remaining matches of the Vanuatu U 20 team at the FIFA U 20 World Cup.

Vanuatu will take on Venezuela in their second pool match at Daejeon World Cup Stadium tonight.

According to VBTC acting General Manager Stevenson Liu, they are working on bookings for the matches.

“And not just that we also working with our partners from Pasifika Channel and TVNZ to get a turnaround of the signal from NZ as the satellite transmitting the content is further west and we unable to get the signal strength from Vanuatu,” Liu said.

“We have booked the two remaining matches with the HBS and hopefully FIFA can allow for that turnaround so Pasifika Channel can provide that content to VBTC.”

Liu was replying to questions from Loop Vanuatu on VBTC’s ability to provide live coverage of the matches on Television Blong Vanuatu (TBV).

The broadcaster was unable to provide live coverage of Vanuatu’s debut at the FIFA U 20 World Cup in Korea last weekend upsetting many fans.

In a post on it's Facebook page last Saturday, TBV said it was unable to broadcast the game because it was 'unable to meet the total rights fee'.

Vanuatu's final pool match is against Germany at Jeju World Cup Stadium on Friday, 26 May.
