Clooney's Vow: Trump Will Not Be President

Donald Trump will not be president of the United States, at least according to George Clooney.

The actor spoke to reporters Thursday at the Cannes Film Festival, and he was asked about the presumptive Republican presidential nominee and what a Trump White House would look like.

"There's not going to be a President Donald Trump," Clooney stated. "That's not going to happen. Fear is not going to be ... what drives our country. We're not going to be scared of Muslims or immigrants or women. We're not actually afraid of anything. We're not going to use fear. So that's not going to be an issue."

Clooney also attributed Trump's rise to the failures of news networks, accusing the media of not asking tough questions and talking about serious issues.

"Their ratings go up because they can show an empty podium saying 'Donald Trump is about to speak,' as opposed to taking those 30 seconds and saying, 'Well, let's talk about refugees,' which is the biggest crisis going on in the world right now."

Trump weighed in on Clooney later in the show simply stating, "he's no Cary Grant."
