Digicel is once again bringing families and the Pacific’s greatest musical talent together with an upbeat new version of their hit song ‘We Are Family’. This new rendition is a cheerful Pacific Christmas music collaboration, available to all Digicel customers across the company’s six Pacific countries.

The collaboration includes Stan from Vanuatu’s leading reggae band ‘Stan & The Earth Force’, ‘Big Wilz and Fill’ passionate musicians that make up the band ‘Makare’ from Fiji, Angela Afeaki from Tonga, the reputable Jay Liesi and the talented Bianca Noka from PNG. The Oski Brothers represented Samoa and Abner, Nauru’s leading artist completed the eclectic mix.

Part of a fully integrated marketing promotion, the holiday song reflects the truly global tradition of having the family come together at this special time of year, a key message of the Digicel holiday campaign.

Michael Murphy, CEO, Digicel Asia-Pacific said, "At Digicel we understand the importance of family and the significance it plays during the holiday season. This year we wanted to celebrate our families and the magical role they play in all our lives."

This is a track that friends and families the Pacific over can enjoy together. Christmas is about togetherness and celebration, family and belonging. This song captures the most special part of Christmas for Digicel and the Pacific; it’s all about heart, soul, life, love, and being there for each other – young and old.

"The holidays, in particular, are a time when people take pleasure in coming together as a family, honoring tradition and spending time with those we love the most. What makes the track really special is that is was made by our Pacific family for our wider Pacific family,” said Katie Taylor, Head of Marketing, Digicel Asia Pacific.

Composer/producer of Jamhouse studios Garry Smith worked in partnership with Digicel and Fiji-born composer Peter Maxwell and the collaboration of eight musicians including vocalists to create the original melody. The song was composed for friends and families to enjoy together and stay very connected around the South Pacific.

Digicel is introducing radio and television spots featuring the artists and the track, online and mobile experiences and in-store promotions these holidays. The campaign, which is an extension of the Asia Pacific’s Christmas marketing platform ‘We Are Family’, is set to launch this month throughout the region.

This will be supported by a digital and social media campaign encouraging customers to share their favorite moments on Twitter and Facebook. The digital campaign has evolved to incorporate mobile initiatives including ringtones and a Facebook competition to win loads of prizes this holiday season.

‘We Are Family’ will be available to download on inTunes or from Digicel Live during the Christmas period
