Hayne to sign with Titans?

The Australian code hopper Jarryd Hayne will reportedly sign a two-year National Rugby League deal with the Gold Coast.

RNZ reports the Titans announced this morning they would make a major club announcement at half past midday (NZ time).

Hayne has not played in the NRL since he left Parramatta to try his hand at America's NFL at the end of 2014.

But according to the Nine Network he is set to return with the NRL's youngest club.

The reports come after Fairfax Media suggested the Titans were willing to offer the former representative star a deal worth $NZ 1.3 million a season with third-party components included.

That offer would trump one Parramatta were believed to have been preparing, which weighed in at $NZ 840,000 a season over three years.

The signing would be a major coup for the Gold Coast, who still have significant salary cap space left after missing out last year on luring halfback Daly Cherry-Evans when he walked out on a lucrative deal.

Jarryd Hayne had hoped to compete at the Olympics with the Fiji rugby sevens team, but was cut from the squad last month.
