Kiwanis Donate VT400,000 to Team Vanuatu Athletes to Rio 2016

Kiwanis has donated 400,000VT to VASANOC for the four athletes in Team Vanuatu to the Rio2016 Olympics.

A cheque for the amount was received by Judoka’s Joe Mahit at a handover ceremony at Melanesian Hotel this week.

Other officials who attended the ceremony were VASANOC SG, Mr Cyrille Mainguy, VASANOC CEO, Mr Henry Tavoa and Judoka Coach, Florence Daoleuang. 

Each athlete will be getting 100,000VT each from this total for their incidentals while in Rio. 

Kiwanis Club of Port Vila raised the funds in the Kiwanis Charity Race Ball held during Race Week 2015.

Mr Mainguy officially handed the funds to three athletes Yoshua Shing, Boe Warawara and Joe Mahit yesterday.

Rower Luigi Teilemb is already in Rio and his funds will be handed to him there. 

VASANOC and Team Vanuatu say they are sincerely grateful for the support from Kiwanis.

Meanwhile Kiwanis Charity Race Week is on again in August 2016’.

Kiwanis Charity Race Ball is scheduled for Wednesday August 10.

Kiwanis/Carbine Club Luncheon Friday, August 12 followed by Kiwanis Charity Race Day Saturday, August 13.
