Madonna cries at concert, pays tribute to Paris

Madonna got emotional on Saturday during her concert in Stockholm, where she addressed the attacks on Paris and asked the crowd to observe a moment of silence for the victims.

"This whole show is about celebrating life. And standing up for your rights. Fighting for what you believe in," she said. "It's been very hard for me to get through this show and not forget about what happened last night. So I need to take this moment to acknowledge the tragedy. The tragic killings, assassinations and the senseless ending of precious life that occurred last night in Paris."

She went on to say she felt conflicted about putting on the concert and had considering canceling it: "In many ways, I feel torn. Like why am I up here dancing and having fun when people are crying over the loss of their loved ones?"

"However, that is exactly what these people want to do. They want to shut us up, they want to silence us," she said. "And we won't let them."

After asking the crowd to bow their heads in a moment of silence, she went on to perform Like a Prayer.

Later, Madonna took to social media where she admitted while the show was "difficult," there "was so much love in this arena it made me feel like we were turning darkness into light."
